Dutch designer Monika Mulder is deeply concerned with the sculptural aspect of design. For Mulder, everything is a composition. Her main interest is to develop relevant solutions for real needs and to bring grace and beauty to everyday products. Her work is playful and functional, solving production challenges with creativity and consideration. Monika studied at the Eindhoven Design Academy. An internship in the design department at IKEA led to a job and a succession of notable projects. In 2007, she set up her own design studio in Gothenburg, Sweden, where she works as an independent designer. Her projects have received awards such as Best Swedish Design and Best Furniture of the Year from Elle Decoration, and have been featured in international exhibitions and published in books such as the International Design Yearbook.
